Measure your carbon footprint
Information you’ll need to effectively measure your carbon footprint is as follows:
- Energy, Gas and Water consumption
- Business travel and employee commuting time
- Consumption of supplies and equipment as well as the source of them
Most businesses forget to include consumption of items like supplies, office furniture and workwear to their calculations but these can make a huge difference to the success of any initiative.

Reduce your emissions as much as possible
There’s many ways for a business to reduce its emissions. Here are some of the most popular:

Offset what you cannot reduce with UN certified emission reductions
Carbon offsetting is a way to compensate for your emissions by funding a carbon dioxide saving elsewhere. You can find relevant projects by looking on the United Nations Carbon Offset Platform.
Many carbon offsetting projects also provide wider benefits like biodiversity conservation, better education, more jobs and food security as well as better health and wellbeing in developing countries.
